Coping with Arthrogryposis: A Parent’s Perspective

Mins :
Year Released:
This 43 minute video takes a look at what a parent can expect when they learn that their child has been born with Arthrogryposis. It includes interviews with parents as well as medical professionals. Although produced in 1993, many of the interviews provide parents and relatives a glimpse into the world of a family that suddenly finds themselves with a child that is born with arthrogryposis. Although the news may be devastating at first, this video gives the viewer hope that many wonderful things can come from a special needs child. Although my daughter is in a power wheelchair and has minimal use of her hands, she is entering her senior year at Harvard with plans on applying to law school. As she has said to me, “Dad, my body may be broken, but God blessed me with a brilliant mind in order to change the world”. This is a film about hope, courage and the endless potential of the human spirit. It was a labor of love that I hope helps you with the initial shock of learning that your child has arthrogryposis.
